* On National Badge Days, sisters from coast to coast unify by wearing their badges for the day. If your situation (work especially) won't allow for that, show your pride by wearing a compass, penguin, white rose, or our colors (silver, gold and blue) or even your sorority letters! And, get your Panhellenic friends to join you. We have a Facebook event for each of them, let us know and we will get you invited....and feel free to spread the word.
Join our philanthropic efforts.
We are participating in the March of the Penguins for the philanthropic event to celebrate the Centennial of Theta Phi Alpha by participating in the federally declared National Day of Service on September 11th. Chicago alumnae are marching at Hamburger University in Oak Brook for the American Lung Association on October 2nd. You may participate in another activity found at www.911dayofservice.org and let us know. Thanks!
We collect items to stuff stockings for children whose cases are managed by DCFS, we collect pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House, and we collect clothing, swimsuits, backpacks, and shoes for children attending Camp Friendship, ages 7-12.

- AWARD WINNING
The Chicago Area alumnae association won the Diamond Jubilee Award for outstanding alumnae association at the 2006 Convention for our consistent participation in philanthropy efforts and programming.
In 2004, we received the Founders' Foundation Award for raising $8,000. We had drives for Jean Yosepian's 50th anniversary of initiation and induction to the Sapphire Circle. Jean was a long time director of the Founders' Foundation and is an alumna of Upsilon chapter. We also raised funds in honor of the retirement from the Founders' Foundation of Diane Stallmann, who had served as president of the Foundation for about 10 years.
- PHILANTHROPIES
Under the banner “The House that Theta Phi Alpha Built,” we support many organizations whose mission relates to supporting the homeless, including educational activities that could prevent people from one day becoming homeless. Supported organizations include:
THE FOUNDERS’ FOUNDATION OF THETA PHI ALPHA, INC. provides scholarships and funds educational, and leadership development to Theta Phi Alphas.
GLENMARY HOME MISSIONERS supports residents of rural Appalachia. The Chicago alums donated swimsuits and flip flops for Camp Friendship. Gives you the chance to buy that tankini you just won't wear! Held in Mississippi, this camp gives children opportunities that would normally be unavailable to them.
CATHOLIC CHARITIES-CHICAGO manages cases of children placed with DCFS in Illinois. Our annual stocking stuffer creates for many of these children an extra special stocking filled with toys, books, art supplies, and candy. One of our alums, a social worker for Catholic Charities, says that we are very popular with the other social workers.
